SHOPPING SCENE: MIXOLOGY

MIXOLOGY

1467 Third Avenue, New York, NY 10028

So stoked to have popped by the opening of Mixology last week, a contemporary women's boutique that's bringing some edge to the Upper East Side! I am often more of a thrift/vintage shopper because I don't have the budget for designer duds and hate to spend $$$ on low quality pieces, but this store has the best of both sides -- cool, unique options almost all under $100. SCORE. Not to mention buyers out of Los Angeles that give this trendy spot a lil West-Coast flair.

Whitney Port was on deck to host the event with Kiara Horwitz of KHPR

DJ HUDA kept the vibe going with killer beats

ART: FIRST SHOW / LAST SHOW @ 190 Bowery

MAY 19th, 5PM-8PM, at 190 Bowery, New York, NY 10012

"Vito Schnabel is pleased to announce the opening of FIRST SHOW / LAST SHOW, a group exhibition at 190 Bowery on May 16th, 2015. Featured artists include Joe Bradley, Dan Colen, Jeff Elrod, Ron Gorchov, Mark Crotjahn, Harmony Korine, and Julian Schnabel. The artists included in FIRST SHOW / LAST SHOW are seven of my favorite painters. I have had the privilege of living with some of their works and have long wanted to show them together. There are very few artists whose work immediately conveys its significance, like each of these seven. They represent three generations of great American contemporary art, ranging in age from 35 to 85" -- Aly Rosen

ART: 60 AMERICANS

MAY 21st - JUNE 14th, at Elga Wimmer Gallery, 526 W. 26th St,  New York, NY 10001

’60 Americans’ is a response to the ill-gotten gains of flipper based collectors, money corrupted and trend obsessed gallerists, shopping mall (puppy mill/factory) inspired art fairs, nepotism and favoritism of the made men and women of fast track MFA programs in America. This exhibition will offer an alternative perspective on what’s arguably relevant and important in the current landscape of American contemporary art. Check it out to see the latest work from one of our CULT chat features, Adam Krueger

ART EXHIBITION: DAVID SALLE - NEW PAINTINGS

NOW - JUNE 27th at Skarstedt Gallery, 550 W 21st St, New York, NY 10011

Skarstedt is pleased to present an exhibition of new work by American artist David Salle at their Chelsea gallery this April. The exhibition will feature all new work from two recent series: the Late Product Paintings and the Silver Paintings.

The exhibition as a whole extends the idea of juxtaposition even further: one group of pictures is intensely colorful, extremely various, and organized along complex diagonal rhythms; the other is restricted to black and white, with a single subject, and composed along a vertical/horizontal axis. And yet, the two series have a clear reciprocity and point of intersection; together they seem to mirror each other with an oscillating sense of place.
