FASHION WEEK SURVIVAL

Two days until New York Fashion Week, the most hectic time of the fashion set's fall agenda, kicks off and I'm still hazy from the high of a lazy long weekend. Scrambling to get ready for all the buzz, I turned to a PR pro to get the scoop on what can get me (and the rest of you on the show/party circuit) through the week.

Head of her own Public Relations firm, KHPR, Kiara Horwitz is used to chaos -- it's the thrilling yet anxiety-inducing nature of the business. Nothing ever turns out exactly as planned in an industry that relies on so many people to get a job done, but you gotta keep your cool, especially when you're in charge... and it doesn't hurt to look good doing it. Not one to keep a good thing to herself, Kiara let us in on her go-tos for staying sleek and relaxed during this glamorous circus:

Clockwise from top left:

Chanel Rouge Lipstick in Pirate - Everyone knows, I am a huge fan of the red lips... for fall I like to go a little darker, it gets me in the fashion groove!

Pinch Provisions - Skinny Minimergency Kit for Her  - This is the perfect go-to beauty/fashion emergency kit while on the go!

Twin Sister Deep V Jumpsuit - We all need that perfect black romper to kick NY Fashion Week into gear. This jumpsuit takes you from day to night, just add heels!

YSL Classic Nano Sac De Jour bag - This is your go-to everyday bag - as you go from show to show, throw in your macbook air and/or iPad for runway shots!

UBER - I cannot be without my UBER app. I love that I can have a car waiting for me before one event finishes and takes me to the next in minutes.

Kate Spade Business Card Holder - I am always stacked with KHPR, Inc. business cards! This is my go-to monogramed case with a CAPITAL K!

KITH BROOKLYN OPENING 8.24.15

Last night Kith opened the Brooklyn outpost of its hip downtown store and the scene was lit with sporty, hip-hop style. First-in-line invitees (the  party was maxed out within 30 mins of opening) sipped champagne and chugged Heineken while testing out the store's debut CEREAL BAR, Kith Treats. What else could make an already kick-ass shop better than adding in a bar that serves tricked out bowls of a childhood classic? Choose from the pre-designed menu combinations (we recommend "The Bam Bam" -- an OOC mix created by Action Bronson including every fun cereal from Lucky Charms to Cinnamon Toast Crunch PLUS Kit Kat Chunks) or design your own using the easy check-off order forms. Designed by Snarkitecture, the space boast's Kith's signature clean aesthetic with white and black lacquered brick walls and a sculptural array of white sneakers hanging from the ceiling. Head out to shop the latest in hot sneaker collaborations or just to have a sweet pre-concert snack (the shop is only a few blocks away from Barclay's Center): Kith BK, 233 Flatbush Ave, Brooklyn, NY.

BEST OF AFROPUNK STREET STYLE

What happens when the event the NY Times dubs "the most multicultural festival in the US" comes to Brooklyn? Peops get down with their funky selves and let loose with stylistic expression, that's what. Photographer James Nova hit up this year's AFROPUNK FEST and snapped the best festival street-style looks for us. Check em out:

REBECCA MINKOFF + MIXOLOGY ATHLEISURE LAUNCH

Photos by Jenna Burke

ATHLEISURE, the fusion of daywear and athletic wear, has become one of my favorite new categories in fashion. As someone who doesn't have a ton of "casual" clothes, it's bomb to find pieces that are chic yet still appropriate for walking miles around the city in whilst I run my errands, etc. I think I'm one of many New Yorkers who literally gets ALL of my cardio from transportation -- I walk whenever possible!

Also VERY into the whole sporty-chic trend, I was BEYOND excited to hear that one of my favorite designers, Rebecca Minkoff, was teaming up with boutique retailer MIXOLOGY to debut her very own ATHLEISURE collection at their West Hampton store. Even better? I was DJing the party! Editors and shoppers jammed to tunes while imbibing on dangerously good Vita Fruit libations from VEEV Vodka (I managed to sneak a bottle onto the press bus home to make the ride back to the city a little more fun :P).

Posing for a snap with the PR Bae who put this event together, Kiara Horwitz of KHPR

How's the collection? SO SICK. I was able to peruse the looks while the editors were partaking in a pre-party EXHALE barre class (obviously I skipped that lol I was wearing sheer mesh) and I want it all! The limited color palette of black, white, silver, and grey keeps the collection chic and enhances its city-girl vibe. Amongst the jersey-inspired tops, sports-bra-like crops, and printed sweatshirts I found two of my favorite pieces -- a pair of quilted leather high top sneakers and a nylon backpack. Serious MUST HAVES for the mobile busy-girl -- definitely cruise by MIXOLOGY in the city or the Hamptons to check it out.

27 POSE-WORTHY STREET ART BACKDROPS

Walking around the city is one of my all-time favorite things to do. Listening to music, just wandering the streets, I get so inspired -- I could be out there for hours. And this week I did just that and went on a walking tour from Cult Factory HQ in Williamsburg all the way to the LES and across Soho, snapping pics of the killer art I found along the way. There are so many other neighborhoods to explore still, but for now here are some of my favorite downtown street art scenes:
